Senior Technical Sales Manager
SGL Valencia is a part of the Business Unit Graphite Solutions and employs around 70 employees. Our facility focuses on expanded, flexible graphite solutions and fiber materials for sealing applications as well as carbon fabric used as an ablative material. Graphite Solutions serve a variety of industries, including the chemical and automotive sectors, the aerospace industry, traditional mechanical engineering and new applications for fuel cells and energy storage systems.
Senior Technical Sales Representative manages and drives salaes of flexible graphite products within an assigned regional territory. This role involves direct interactions with custimers and end-users, providing expert consultation and promoting the technical advantages of flexible graphite solutions.
What to expect:
Accounts Management and Business Development Responsibilities:
- Oversee and drive sales within a multi-state territory in the US (CA, NV, UT, AZ, CO, NM, KS, OK, TX, MO, AR, LA, AK, HI) and in Canada (YT, NT, AB, BC) managing relationships with customers and end-users.
- Develop and implement pricing, marketing, and sales strategies aligned with Business Line EG
- Collaborate with the Regional Sales Director to create tailored sales strategies for customers adn end-users within the assigned region
- Monitor and analyze Gross Margin and Contribution Margin by product and customer to ensure alignment with targets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with end users within the territory, fostering long-term partnerships
- Utilize CRM systems to track sales, opportunities, and provide regular reporting
- Contribute to the bottom-up planning process for annual sales and department budgets on a quarterly and yearly basis
Technical Responsibilities:
- Translate customer requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with SGL's manufacturing capabilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for sealing and gasket applications, coordinating with the Valencia plant to communicate market demands
- Provide technical support to end-users, offering guidance on specifications and collaborating with industry associations and standardization bodies
- Manage multiple product families, including rolls, sheets, reinforced sheets, inhibited materials, powder products, gasket products, tapes and yarn
People and Management Communication:
- Foster open communication and collaboration with operations and quality teams at the Valencia plant, ensuring alignement across functions
Special Accountabilities or Tasks:
- Track and report regional sales and marketing performance, including market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback
- Identify and explore new product opportunities to expand the portfolio
- Lead price and contract negotiations with commerical customers to drive business growth
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial)
- 3-5 years of technical sales experience; experience with sealing products is a plus
- Proven ability to collaborate with external sales organizations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English
- Experience in time and territory management
- Proficiency in software such as SAP, CRM systems, and MS Office
- Strong interest in technical products within the sealing industry
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
