Inspector, QC

Position Summary: 

The Quality Control Inspector performs Quality Control checking of machines, equipment, tooling, production items, assembly methods, etc. Makes process and final inspections of machined parts, checking against blueprints, samples, etc. Approves or disapproves machine set-ups for all Building 600 operations and applicable CVD inspections.

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Provide first article and in-process inspection support including:  approve or disapprove machine set-up operations, interpret drawings, evaluate fully or partially machined parts against samples and drawings, inform machinist of differences between print nominal and actual dimensions. 
  • Use and program CMM equipment
  • Conduct process/product audits and report non-compliance to supervisors
  • Product certification
  • Conduct problem solving analysis and support corrective action steps regarding customer complaints, high incidents of scrap and other various quality excursions
  • Support the use of statistical techniques in the plant
  • Support in-process inspection of material flaws to include answers questions, educating machinists
  • Set-up and maintain measurement equipment utilized by other inspectors and machinists
  • Perform final inspection of machined parts as required
  • Perform necessary clerical and record-keeping duties
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner and practice good housekeeping

 

Your profile: 

  • All Quality Control Inspectors are required to complete progressive training program as required by the labor agremeent
  • Previous experience working in machining operations, preferred 
  • Previous experience programming CMM equipment, preferred 
  • ASQ certification preferred
