CVD Honing Technician (2nd Shift)

The CVD Honing Technician is the entry-level CVD Technician position.  This position assists in the production and developmental functions that ensure CVD coated parts meeting quality and delivery requirements of SGL Carbon customers.  Responsibilities include tasks, analysis and procedures with minimal supervision and creative problem solving daily. 

 

Your Opportunity: 

  • Following the daily details reports, process product through both the pre-coat preparation and honing processes to ensure that product meets customer requirements and deliveries. 
  • Inspection of parts 
    • Pre-Coat
      • Analyze, question and determine root cause of all material and machining flaws 
      • Paperwork and blueprint review.  Coordinate the proper workflow of all relevant documentation 
      • Incoming part inspection (visual, Eddy current measurements, weights) 
      • Ultrasonic or Di washing of parts, and maintenance of equipment 
      • N2 and oven drying of products, and maintenance of equipment 
    • Post-Coat
      • Hone, wash and dry products
      • Daily calibration of measurement equipment
      • Measure and record coating thickness data
      • Load and run products on the CRUM measurement equipment 
      • Inspection for nodules
      • Nodule removal with honing tools
      • Final CVD certification review
      • Process Metric SPC Review - input data, review and monitor for trends or out of specification conditions
  • Quality of products:  maintain and document data, calibrate equipment, inspection of parts for flaws 
  • Shipping, Receiving and Inventory Control:  responsible for receiving products to be coated, shipping or parts to be inspected, and inventory (incoming, outgoing, in-process)

 

Your Profile: 

  • 2-year degree in technical field or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferred 
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of dexterity - ability to make precisely coordinated movements for honing operations 
  • Ability to work well without close supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
