Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

We are seeking a proactive and influential HSE advisor to support and enhance our safety culture within a technically advanced carbon fibre manufacturing environment.

 

This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will work closely with operational teams, providing expert guidance while actively driving engagement, behavioural change and continuous improvements across all areas of the business.  You will play a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting management systems, and helping shape a positive, high performing HSE culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

HSE systems & Compliance

 

  • Support the development, implementation and continual improvement of management systems aligned to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and SO 50001.
  • Provide practical guidance to operational managers to ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and internal standards

 

Engagement & Culture

 

  • Actively engage with employees at all levels to promote a positive safety culture
  • Encourage reporting of incidents, near misses and hazards, supporting a fair and just culture approach

 

Risk Management

 

  • Lead and support the development of risk assessments and COSHH assessments
  • Ensure robust control measures are in place and effectively communicated
  • Support the creation and improvement of safe operating procedures

 

Auditing & Assurance

 

  • Conduct internal HSE audits in line with the audit programme
  • Track and verify completion of corrective actions
  • Support and facilitate external audits

 

Incident Investigation

 

  • Support and guide incident investigations using structured root cause analysis techniques
  • Ensure timely reporting of corrective actions and lessons learned are embedded

 

Training & Development

 

  • Deliver in-house HSE training and support the identification of external training requirements
  • Coach managers and supervisors in HSE responsibilities and best practice

 

Monitoring & Reporting

 

  • Support the completion of HSE performance data and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

 

About You

 

Essential

 

  • NEBOSH general certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Experience in a HSE role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Practical experience of risk and COSHH assessments
  • Ability to work independently and take a proactive, solutions focused approach
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis tools
  • Technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Please note: This role is offered on a Permanent and Full Time Basis, 40hrs per week (Monday-Friday)
