Project Engineer

SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENT 

 

Ensures that technical and commercial aspects of projects at the facility are managed while meeting requirements and company guidelines relating to on-time delivery, costs and quality. Ensures the professional advice and support of customers during and after execution of the orders.

 

Manage all Capital Expenditure projects (up to $50MM) for SGL with focus on “Technical Success”, “Project Budget”, and “Project Schedule”. Work directly with plant operations, safety, environmental, and finance to develop project scope and success metrics. Work directly with Architectural/Engineering contractors, construction contractors, and internal team members to execute projects successfully.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Design engineering projects and ensure projects are properly carried out with respect to customer requirements and internal and external design standards.
  • Analyzes and monitors available engineering resources and, if necessary, involves external engineering sub-contractors.
  • Permanently monitors project progress and checks the project results on the basis of customer requirements and company guidelines.
  • Ensures that the corresponding agreements on technical details and deadlines are made with the customers and register additional deliveries and services (claims management).
  • Ensures SGL support for the installation of the delivered equipment on site.
  • Provides professional advice and support to the procurement group for process equipment during the order negotiations, especially regarding mechanical design related issues.
  • Guides, encourages, and motivates the assigned team members and propose changes when necessary.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing large industrial capital project (>$1MM) with a proven track record of technical, financial, and schedule success.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the engineering field of process technology business.
  • Strong Knowledge of and experience in: Engineering Methods (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, Instrument Lists and Specification, Equipment Lists and Specifications, Equipment Arrangment Drawings). As well as CAD (using Solidworks, AutoCad) and data batabase software. 
  • Commissioning and start-up of new and modified equipment.
  • Must possess excellent team bulding skills to accomplish objectives and goals.
  • Requires excellent team building skills to accomplish objectives and goals.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Programs Word & Excel, Windows.
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Must be task oriented and able to meet deadlines. 
  • Able to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of mathematical ability.

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

 

  • SAP-system software experience.
  • Mechanical and basic process engineering.
