Maintenance Manager

SCHEDULE:

Flex Schedule: M-Thur 9 hrs, Fridays 4 hours


SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTS:

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient performance of the maintenance department and safety of the facilities; including the planning and management of the revisions of buildings, equipment  and infrastructure. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervision and work performance of departmental team, effective utilization of process systems, budgets, capital project coordination, maintenance work order system, parts program Duties include the management and installation of maintenance and production equipment throughout the facility; including developing, monitoring and ensuring efficient use of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•    Ensure all aspects of the facility are run in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
•    Direct, develop and support maintenance, electrical and project team members to ensure design engineering and maintenance is safely and properly carried out with respect to customer requirements and (internal and external) design standards. 
•    Manage maintenance and capital related projects.
•    Develop/maintain preventive maintenance programs using resources, experience and historical data.
•    Develop/maintain predictive maintenance programs where appropriate in terms of costs and time.
•    Develop departmental budget and maintain all functions efficiently within budget; monitors and analyzes the maintenance and project costs.
•    Analyze failures and recommend modifications to prevent or prolong time between failures.
•    Maintain standardization and efficient inventory of spare parts, components and machinery for reliability.
•    Review new equipment installations to ensure maintainability is optimized. 
•    Recommend new tools and techniques to increase efficiency and safety of work force.
•    Monitor/audit maintenance programs to ensure inspections are meeting standards. 
•    Analyze and monitor available engineering resources and, if necessary, involve external sub-contractors.
•    Consistently monitor project progress and verify the project results on the basis of facts and data related to safety, efficiency, customer requirements and company guidelines.
•    Ensures SGL support for installation of the delivered equipment on site.
•    Provides professional advice and support to the procurement group for process equipment during the order negotiations, especially regarding mechanical design related issues.
•    Ensures company’s plans, processes, documents, etc. are maintained in a confidential manner.  
•    Ensures assigned facilities and equipment are appropriately safeguarded from loss and/or failure.
•    Notifies plant management immediately of scheduled work that interferes with production.
•    Recommends and implements improvements in maintenance methods and plant equipment.
•    Prioritization of maintenance work orders with respect to safety, quality and operational goals and needs.
•    Guides, encourages and motivates the assigned team members to obtain departmental, company and their individual measures of performance.
•    Responsible for training program/development plan for maintenance team members. 
•    Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
•    Ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
•    Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
•    Monitors and audits maintenance programs to ensure PMs inspections continually meet standards. 
•    Perform other duties as required that are in support of the organizational goals.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering or other related field; or equivalent proven knowledge and experience.
•    5 or more years of maintenance, electrical and project management experience.
•    Experience with significant high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
•    Basic Knowledge and experience with:

  • Products, Applications, Materials
  • Machining & Manufacturing of process equipment
  • Predictive and preventative maintenance technologies.

•    Must possess excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
•    Excellent team building skills to accomplishing objectives and goals
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
•    Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Must be task oriented and able to meet deadlines.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    High level of proficiency in related software programs including, Microsoft Office Word and Excel, etc.
•    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in blueprint, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
•    Ability to handle multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
•    Ability to perform well in time sensitive situations and meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work well on own with minimal supervision and make effective, efficient decisions.


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCES:
•    Knowledge of MRP systems, experience with SAP, MES. 
•    Extensive experience with predictive and preventative maintenance technologies and ability to manage a successful program. 
•    Lean and/or Six-Sigma training and experience

This position works in an office with moderate noise.  Also, requires regular work within the plant with moderate noise, heat and fibers; moving around working machinery; walking up and down stairs and ladders; assessing equipment on platforms and other areas in awkward positions.  This position requires travel.
