Electrician/Instrumentation Technician

SGL Carbon’s Moses Lake facility is located in the heart of Washington state. This facility takes advantage of the abundant renewable electricity provided by nearby hydro-electric dams located throughout Grant County. It utilizes this electricity to power its large convection ovens and furnaces, converting Polyacrylonitrile into high strength carbon fiber. The Moses Lake facility is the premier Carbon Fiber producer of SGL Carbon’s North American operations. Built in 2011, this facility is one of the most technologically advanced 50K carbon fiber producers in the world. The campus consists of 3 production buildings housing 5 operating carbon fiber lines, a warehouse and an administration building. SGL Carbon’s Moses Lake facility employs over 150 well trained, dedicated, and safety minded team members.


 

SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTS 
This position will maintain all electrical equipment, instruments, and mechanical services. The position will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing controls and electrical systems.
 
E&I Technician I: 
Is the entry-level position in the E&I Technician series which requires close to general supervision.  
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Have a good understanding of production flow and location of all electrical equipment. 
• The ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment under the supervision of the electrical supervisor.
• Perform basic instrumentation calibration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor 
 
E&I Technician II: 
This classification is distinguished from the E&I Technician I by the complexity of work assignments, the potential impact of error, the level of independence with which assignments are performed and the limited level of supervision needed. 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
All duties listed above in the E&I Technician I position as well as the following:
• Works independently on projects and assignments under the discretion of the Electrical Supervisor.
• Be Proficient with all 4/20mA Instrumentation and the ability to troubleshoot complex sensors. With the use of HART communicator, and loop calibrators. 
• Troubleshoot temperature loops.
• Technician must have good understating of all electrical equipment and the interaction between them.
• May direct, coach, or train less experienced Instrument & Electrical technicians and others on specific projects or procedures of the work.
• Ability to troubleshoot ladder logic without the need of supervision.
• Technician must be able to troubleshoot and test all aspects of a VFD and its function.
• Technicians assigned to the MCC must ensure it is cleaned and organized with all available drawings.
 
E&I Technician III:
All duties listed above in the E&I Technician I & II positions as well as the following:
• Requires minimal direction from the Electrical supervisor.
• Performs repair and testing work requiring a high-level of knowledge, skills, and abilities, and serves as a technical resource to others.
• Must have a deep understanding of all electrical components such as SICK analyzers, PF700 VFD rebuilt all other Drives and instrumentation. 
• Must show the ability to use outside resources to troubleshoot equipment such as VFD’s, SICK analyzers and other complex electronic components. 
• Technician must attain a level 1 certificate for a preventive maintenance specialty. 
 
Specialty for above all E&I Technicians levels:
• Technician must attain a level 2 certificate in their specialty job that has been assigned to them.
• Independently create and manage work orders and follow through on job completion for their assigned specialty
• Report 2x/quarter on their “specialty” PM progress. 
• Manage and ensure completion of scheduled specialty PM’s
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• High school diploma or equivalent 
 
E&I Technician Trainee:
• Electrical or related technical degree and/or related electrical field experience in a manufacturing environment
 
E&I Technician I: 
• Minimum of 1 year internal experience as a E&I Technician Trainee or 2 or more years of experience preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment. 
 
E&I Technician II:  
• 5 or more years of electrical field experience preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Successfully complete the E&I Technician I Exam/Skills Tests.
 
E&I Technician III:
• 2 years minimum working experience as an E&I Technician II
• Successfully complete the E&I Technician II Exam/Skills Tests.
• Required to obtain a level one specialty

Rate Information:

$34.04-$41.73 + night and weekend shift differentials (2.50-7.50%) *Opportunity to move up the ladder rapidly

Schedule:

12 hour rotating shifts Nights/Days/Weekends Rotation
7:00 - 7:00
