SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENT

 

Responsible for the improvement, development, installation, maintenance of all electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control and automation systems required for the safe, cost-effective, and efficient operation of all equipment and processes in the Morganton plant.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Development, documentation, and installation of new instrumentation and control systems
  • Modification/improvement of existing systems
  • Providing support for systems to include: configuration changes, troubleshooting, training, optimization, documentation, and maintenance
  • Specification, organization, and maintenance of adequate spare parts and modules for systems
  • Provide single point of contact for troubleshooting problems involving instrumentation and control systems.
  • Establish communications and maintain support for the process controls
  • Works closely with production departments to maintain reliable and accurate instrumentation on all plant equipment
  • Performs other duties as required that are in support of department and plant goals       

 

PREFERRED Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Minimum 5 Years experience with industrial process instrumentation and controls using PLC systems
  • Excellent communications skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Ability to develop, test, integrate and document complete PLC–based control systems
  • Experience and ability to select, set-up, and calibrate various instrumentation devices for measurement of temperature, fluid flow, mass flow, concentration, level, velocity, force, etc.
  • Experience and ability to read and write process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
  • Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision and to consistently exercise discretion and independent judgment when making high-level decisions
  • Ability to take initiative; highly self-motivated
  • High degree of interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with others
  • Familiarity with standards and codes such as ISA 84 Instrumented Safety and NFPA 70 National Electric Code
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix, Control Net, RSLogix, and RSView is a plus
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Powerflex VFD's is a plus
  • Advanced level experience with PC using Windows, Word, Excel, Access, etc.
