Lead Buyer - Global Chemicals (m/f/d)

Your opportunity:

  • Responsible to support strategic sourcing and procurement of raw materials (RM) – Category of Global Chemicals. Re-sponsibilities include implementing short- and long-term sourcing opportunities, cost reduction strategies, supplier evalua-tions and contract negotiations, leveraging market intelligence and engaging with internal and external business partners
  • Create a supplier sourcing strategy, under strong consideration of customer needs, that defines strategic suppliers into grow, fix and exit suppliers and maintains product footprint, incl. “make or buy”-analysis
  • Participate in all stages of supplier identification and selection
  • Manage the key RM – Global Chemicals, including dealing with regulatory aspects of shipment, customs, and any other import issues as they might arise
  • Execute RfQs for potential catalogue items including contracting based on standard contract templates
  • Support the R&D team with sourcing for new products and technical evaluation
  • Develop alternatives for new sources of commercial supply to manage risk, reduce cost, and improve service levels and quality
  • Perform risk management and constraint analysis on key materials. Recommend and implement risk mitigation activi-ties
  • Lead purchasing practices and policies to ensure compliant and ethical relationships with suppliers
  • Collaborate closely with the Supply Chain department
  • Participate in supplier quality audits

 

Your profile:

  • Degree in Chemistry or other Life Sciences degree, Management, Economics or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar roles within Pharmaceutical or Chemical Industry
  • Highly motivated, energic and a good team player
  • Strong supplier relationship management and contract management
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative to make things happen
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and conclude decisions
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with multi-cultural teams
  • Ability to create competitive strategies and plans, broad knowledge of strategies and tactics of the marketplace, knows trends
  • Knowledge of regional and global supplier base for relevant commodities
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint
  • Fluent English and German at negotiation level
  • Availability to travel, as required, on an international basis
  • Proactivity, oriented to the internal client, for solutions and for continuous improvement
