Operations Manager

We are looking for an Operations Manager at our SGL Carbon Fibers site in Mytholroyd. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations manager to drive significant growth in both our expanding filter and Segment businesses,

 

Your Opportunity:

 

Direct and control the development and operation of Production activities at the Halifax site. Striving for operational excellence applying the methodology and principals of SGL’s bespoke continuous improvement programme (Operations Management System – OMS).

•           Responsible for all operational and EHSA related activities.

•           Ensure customer requirements are met within cost and quality standards and agreed delivery schedules.

•           Contribute to the strategic development of the business by ensuring Operations activities are in line with both Site and Business Unit objectives.

•           Direct Production operations on the Site to ensure safety, quality and efficiency targets are achieved on schedule and within budget.

•           Ensure all plant, equipment and facilities maintenance is planned to obtain optimum manufacturing efficiency and continuity.

•           Review production methods and processes and identify the nature of investment necessary to improve quality, efficiency, and to meet production demands.

•           Direct and control quality improvement and innovation activities within areas of responsibility, ensuring synergies between areas are optimised wherever possible. Act as champion for Continuous Improvement. Strive for excellence.

•           Ensure the site has adequate and effective quality control and quality assurance policies and procedures, and that all output is fully examined and tested to conform to company standards and customer requirements.

•           Ensure the site operates effective and responsive stock control and material management systems to facilitate the scheduling of production, minimise stock levels and maximise manufacturing output.

 

Your profile:

Preferred:

•           A Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related field.

Desired:

•           Thorough knowledge and understanding of all commercial concepts/activities within a manufacturing environment.

•           Extensive experience and demonstrable success in a senior management role, or similar experience from within a comparable process-manufacturing environment.

•           Exceptional leadership skills, with proven experience of successfully motivating, training and developing multi-functional team(s) towards achieving objectives.

•           Evidence of drive, initiative, sound commercial/technical judgement, and persistence in relation to continuous improvement and achievement of results.

•           Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and to gain commitment and support from others.

•           Thorough knowledge of the statutory and Company requirements for Health & Safety, Quality and Environment

•           Thoroughly competent in the use of all relevant business/technical IT applications.
