Senior Manager of Purchasing and Logistics North America
Job Summary
Note: This position is remote working optional or can be located at an East Coast Plant. States for remote work include North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
This position is responsible for leading operational and strategic purchasing along with logistics in North America. The Head of Purchasing and Logistics is also responsible for the oversight of effective and efficient purchasing of components, commodities, services, and capital equipment at best cost for the sites in North America. In addition, the individual will be responsible for the regional implementation of the initiatives of Global Purchasing. #CB1
Key Accountabilities
• Leads activities of operational and strategic buyers through coaching on key accountabilities.
• Oversees the purchases of goods and services for sites.
• Serves as subject-matter expert in NA for the procurement of direct goods, utilities and services.
• Develops and executes action plans to meet targets for cost, quality, and delivery.
• Negotiates prices, terms, and conditions of agreements and executes agreements with suppliers.
• Interfaces with Group Legal on agreements and approves executive contract summaries for Group Legal.
• Evaluates industry trends to determine potential impacts and initiates actions to ensure continuity of supply chain.
• Oversees semiannual audits of key suppliers to assess cost, quality, and delivery.
• Investigates potential suppliers for optimum alignment of capabilities with requirements.
• Develops domestic and international long-term relationships with suppliers.
• Implements initiatives to meet overall corporate objectives while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures of SGL Carbon.
• Performs other duties as required to support objectives of sites and Global Purchasing.
Your Profile
• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement. Experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in management with direct reports.
• Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to provide world-class customer service.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to influence and lead others.
