Quality Inspector

Job Summary:

Responsible for thoroughly inspecting in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests.  Approves finished products. Communicates required adjustments to production supervisor.  Ultimately responsible for ensuring all components of finished parts meet critical to quality requirements have been met from the manufacturing processes all the way through the packaging processes. Supervises packaging requirements and coaches packaging personnel to ensure all customer packaging requirements are met.  Supports the defining, implementing and auditing of ISO TQM. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

•    Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to production supervisor 
•    Selects output samples and checks using appropriate methods, measuring dimensions, testing functionality, surface testing and comparing to specifications etc. 
•    Uses and maintains specialized tools, micrometers, and calipers to test the quality of products. 
•    Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies. 
•    Records performance and maintains customer required data.
•    Evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems.
•    Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
•    Provide input of process capability and improvements for production volume while maintaining quality standards. 
•    Collect, record, and transcribe data and prepares reports.  
•    Perform raw material & finished goods testing.
•    Implement and audits systems that optimize all phases of production processes.
•    Advise on corrective actions.
•    Supports resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues.
•    Reviews and follows protocols, qualification, and validation procedures.
     Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizes re-work and waste, and inputs data into quality database.
•    Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
•    Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Skills:
•    Ability to quickly find the faults in both materials and the manufacturing process and support correcting those faults to ensure quality product.  
•    Demonstrates attention to detail.
•    Must be able to complete work in a timely manner and have a sense of priority and urgency.
•    Needs to demonstrate initiative and flexibility due to changes in schedules and priorities.
•    Ability to explain designs and manufacturing processes to shop personnel and management.
•    Ability to conceptualize, define, describe and document complex technical contents.
•    Good communication skills by written and verbal means.
•    Basic computer and math skills

Manufacturing: *Experience with Aerospace and/or Automotive manufacturing is a plus.

Education and/or Experience:
• Associate Degree in Operations Management or 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment / Quality Inspection  

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification for a quality inspector, quality control engineer, calibration technician and auditor is a plus.
