IT System Engineer SAP Basis (m/f/d)

We are looking for a critical expert to ensure the smooth, secure and reliable operation of our global IT infrastructure in the SAP area. In this role you safeguard business‑critical processes worldwide and help shape our digital future.

Your responsibilities:

• Ensure stable, efficient and secure operation of the SAP-related SGL IT infrastructure for all global, regional and local business units
• Monitor and assess new and complex technical solutions and translate their impact on business processes and end users
• Design, implement and continuously improve globally standardized IT infrastructure solutions in the SAP area, aligned with our principles: value orientation, start where you are, iterative development with feedback, collaboration and transparency, holistic thinking, simplicity and delivering on promise
• Work as project lead or team member in large, global, cross‑functional project teams to implement business‑critical infrastructure solutions across the full lifecycle
• Define technical requirements to ensure proper installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance of the SAP infrastructure
• Collaborate closely with Business stakeholders and internal IT teams and communicate effectively with international and virtual teams and external stakeholders
• Manage and steer external hosting partners and external workbench resources, including task management and budget control

Your profile:

• University degree in IT Engineering with several years of hands‑on experience in SAP infrastructure operations and/or architecture in an international environment
• Deep understanding of modern IT infrastructure concepts and their impact on business processes and user experience
• Proven experience in leading or significantly contributing to complex, global IT infrastructure projects
• Strong skills in requirement engineering, implementation, troubleshooting and lifecycle management of infrastructure solutions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, including experience working with external providers and virtual teams
• Structured, reliable and proactive working style with the ability to make sound decisions within and beyond your own area when needed
• English skills is mandatory; German or other languages are an advantage
