Planner, Inventory Control

Position Summary: 

The Inventory Control Planner directs the utilization of equipment, manpower and other resources to maintain a highly accurate inventory and an on-time order system.  They are responsible for safety and housekeeping standards that reflect a well-managed department. 


Key Accountabilities: 

  • All routers are established using virgin material.  Position is responsible for daily decisions regarding material substitutions to provide maximum material utilization.  Considers using remnants when virgin material is called for.  If no material (feedstock) or no appropriate material is available, this person is responsible to determine if a substitute is available.  
  • Verify accuracy of material issued to work orders and complete necessary documentation. 
  • Enter goods issue transactions in SAP. 
  • Verify/search for material property data. 
  • Email Production Planners regarding issues with material availability. 
  • Update material reservations to reflect actual issues. 
  • This position serves as a backup to the Department Supervisor as needed to cover illness, vacation, etc. 
  • Occasionally directs the workforce for inventory or work order situations. 
  • Miscellaneous assignments linked to departmental needs, including filing and cleaning. 

Your Profile: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Basic blueprint reading skills
  • Proficiency using a tape measure
  • Knowledge of SAP, Shopvue systems and graphite material grades, preferred
