Supervisor, Mechanical Maintenance

Summary of Job Content:


Supervises and coordinates plant maintenance activities for the electrical, mechanical and general upkeep of the plant including setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment. Plan and schedule work as prioritized by assigned production department customers. Procure required parts and materials to accomplish tasks in the most cost and time efficient manner possible. Ensure assigned departments stay within their budgeted maintenance spend goals through innovative thinking and procedures.


  1. Supervises assigned hourly maintenance employees, ensuring that maintenance personnel are properly trained in compliance with OSHA requirements. Assesses knowledge level of these employees and schedules training as appropriate.
  2. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces health and safety regulations.
  3. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  4. Prepares Job Safety Analysis and LOTO procedures. Reviews with maintenance personnel.
  5. Performs other duties as required that are in support of the department’s goals.
  6. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  7. Maintains time and maintenance records. Utilizes SAP maintenance module (data entry, producing reports, etc.). Reviews work orders to ensure completeness and proper authorization.
  8. Confers with assigned department managers/supervisors to coordinate activities in individual departments focusing on performing within stated department production and maintenance budgetary goals by procurement of parts and scheduling labor and resources to accomplish set goals.
  9. Ensures assigned work areas are kept clean, neat, orderly and in a safe condition to include assigned 5S area



  1. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and a basic understanding of electrical/ electrical controls as they apply to this facility.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel), Kronos, SAP and MRPII systems.
  3. Handles multiple projects or tasks concurrently while performing in time sensitive situations to meet critical deadlines.
  4. Work well with minimal supervision and competent to make sound decisions.   


  • High school diploma or (GED) plus five or more years of related experience, particularly different phases of industrial maintenance in a fast –paced industrial atmosphere.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative, working well with a team, and solving problems with minimal supervision.
  • History of maintenance supervision experience is a plus.
  • Strong documented background in all applicable craft skills (as listed above) is a plus.
